Cops pushing for mandatory CCTV in business establishments


Citing the importance of closed-circuit television (CCTV) systems in fighting crime, Metro Manila police are pushing to make the devices a must for businesses. Radio dzBB reported Metro Manila police head Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome said CCTV systems can be among the requirements for business permits. Bartolome said he is planning to meet with concerned local government officials in Metro Manila soon to tackle the issue. He noted that in Pasay City, the CCTV systems are already among the requirements for entrepreneurs to get business permits for their establishments. The police rely on CCTV footage to pick up clues that can help them solve crimes such as robberies and killings. The police have been encouraging businesses to install CCTV systems in their establishments both to help police solve crimes. – VVP, GMANews.TV
