Makati City judge, wife killed in road accident in QC
A Makati City judge and his wife were killed after their vehicle collided with a bus in Quezon City shortly before dawn on Monday. Judge Reynaldo Laigo was declared dead on arrival at the Fairview General Hospital in Quezon City. His wife Leila, on the other hand, was declared dead at the East Avenue Medical Center, also in Quezon City. Radio dzBB's Paulo Santos reported that the driver of the bus, initially identified as Generoso Maganti Jr., surrendered after the incident. Maganti, who faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, claimed that the road was slippery. The dzBB report said the Corimba bus firm also faces a 30-day suspension to be imposed by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board because of the incident. The initial investigation showed that the Laigos were aboard a two-door Mitsubishi mini-Pajero and emerged from the Don Jose Subdivision before 5:00 a.m. when the bus hit them. The Laigos were pinned inside the vehicle. – VVP, GMANews.TV
