PSEi advances on window-dressing

Share prices on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) rose in thin trading Tuesday, helped by last-minute window-dressing that lifted the main index 0.36 percent higher. The market was basically drifting through most of the session until buyers with a view to making their books look good at the end of the year placed their orders, said analyst Martin Santos of First Metro Securities Brokerage Corp. The PSEi rose 14.80 points or 0.36 percent to close at 4,091.86. More than 1.392 billion shares worth P4.455 billion changed hands. Advancers led decliners 79 to 61 with 33 issues unchanged. With the Tuesday's volume below average, most investors “are now in holiday mode," said Ivan Nario, a trader with BDO Securities Inc. “Many of them are probably on vacation by now," he added. — VS, GMANews.TV
