Trillanes leaves in-laws' house early for press forum at Senate

Two days after being released from detention, Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV left his in-laws' house in Antipolo City early Wednesday for the weekly media forum at the Senate. Radio dzBB's Sam Nielsen reported Trillanes left the Town and Country Executive Village at 8 a.m. heading to the Senate building in Pasay City. He wore a dark-gray jacket and khaki pants and sported a serious look as he boarded a silver sports-utility vehicle accompanied by one backup vehicle. Escorting him to the Senate were two members of the Senate sergeant-at-arms and two members of his Magdalo group. The dzBB report quoted some of Trillanes' aides as saying the senator woke early for his first visit to the Senate. On Monday night, Trillanes was released from detention after a court allowed the Senate to take custody of him. He had been detained for his involvement in at least two alleged attempts to overthrow the Arroyo administration. Earlier Wednesday, Trillanes said in a radio interview he is excited to make up for lost time, and that he is planning to run for a second term in 2013. At the Senate, meanwhile, Trillanes' staff spruced up his office for their boss' first arrival at the Senate premises after his election in 2007. Bright blue Christmas lights were installed outside the doorway of Trillanes' office at the Senate's fifth floor. — LBG, GMANews.TV
