Pinoy electrician admits taking secret bathroom videos in UAE trial

A Filipino electrician last Thursday admitted before a United Arab Emirates court that he used his mobile phone to secretly take photos of a Filipina clerk in a toilet last April. The 23-year-old Filipino electrician has been accused of breaching the Filipina's modesty and privacy by secretly taking images of her while she was using the washroom. “I am guilty... I fixed my mobile phone on the video mode and secretly took footage of her while she used the toilet," the electrician said before the Dubai Court of First Instance, as quoted by a report on UAE news site Gulf News posted on Friday. The report said a verdict is expected on Jan. 13 next year. Prosecutors claimed the Filipino electrician placed his mobile phone in a laundry basket so he could take images of his 25-year-old compatriot while she was bathing or using the toilet. The prosecution records said the mobile phone's recorded footage showed the woman undressed and using the toilet seat. A separate report on UAE news site Khaleej Times said the complainant told the prosecutor the electrician had placed a mobile phone with its camera on the cloth basket inside the toilet. “She found a flash memory in the toilet in which a video recording of her half naked as she used the toilet was stored," the Khaleej Times report said. Police seized the defendant’s mobile phone. The phone's memory also contained a video clip of another woman taking a shower, and three other clippings showing women using the toilet. More than a dozen footage of people having sex were also found stored in the phone. — with Jerrie Abella/LBG, GMANews.TV
