Report: 6 people hurt by firecrackers on Xmas Eve


At least six people spent Christmas at hospitals in Metro Manila after being injured by firecrackers during festivities marking the occasion. In Quezon City, radio dzBB reported a man and a minor were admitted to the East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) after sustaining burns from "piccolo." The piccolo tops the list of fireworks banned by health authorities due to its potential to cause harm. A child was also admitted to the EAMC after suffering second-degree burns caused by a "fountain." On the other hand, a man was admitted to the Quezon City General Hospital after being hit by a "kwitis" while he was sleeping. In Manila, a patient was brought to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center after being injured in the hand by exploding piccolo.
