Aquino keeps Christmas private, visits parents’ tomb

President Benigno Aquino III kept private his first Christmas as Chief Executive, paying his parents —entombed at the Manila Memorial Park in Parañaque City — a visit on Saturday. The President did not allow media to take footages of his visit to the Manila Memorial Park, radio dzBB reported Sunday. Aquino won the presidency last May partly because many Filipinos have a high regard for his parents, former President Corazon Aquino and former Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr., considered as Philippine democracy icons. The President, however, allowed a child to pose for a picture with him Saturday, according to dzBB. Earlier, Aquino said his first Christmas as President may be a working one but the Palace eventually announced his Christmas schedule was closed to media coverage. — VS, GMANews.TV
