Six hurt in Tondo Christmas night shooting


Christmas revelry in a neighborhood in Manila's Tondo district turned bloody after a man went on a shooting rampage Saturday night. The man, initially identified as Edwin Galang, shot five civilians but was wounded himself after engaging responding policemen in a shootout. Radio dzBB reported Sunday the incident had occurred along Navarro Street in Tondo, where residents were celebrating Christmas. The five injured were not immediately identified. Initial investigation have it that Galang had suddenly drawn a firearm and went on a rampage. Senior Police Officer 1 Benjamin Lumbad was the first to run to the scene and shoot it out with Galang, who was eventually subdued and arrested by Police Officer 1 Ariel Aguilar. – MRT/VS, GMANews.TV
