PNP issues hotline numbers for reporting drunk cops

The Philippine National Police has issued hotline numbers for reporting drunk cops: 0917 857 4747or the PNP text hotline at 2920. PNP spokesman Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr. said the cops who will be caught drunk will be sanctioned by the PNP leadership. “Yung liquor ban, hindi lang pang Bagong Taon pero lahat na pulis na naka-duty. Bawal sa pulis na naka duty na uminom," he said in an interview on dwIZ radio. (The liquor ban applies not just for the New Year but throughout the year, whenever police personnel are on duty. Getting drunk while on duty is a no-no.) He cited the earlier statement of PNP chief Director General Raul Bacalzo, who he said will not tolerate violations of the liquor ban among police personnel. Cruz added that one of the hotlines (0917 857 4747) is Bacalzo's personal hotline number. “Kung nakita ninyo may nakainom habang naka-duty, i-report sa 0917-8574747 o sa 2920. Asahan ang agarang aksyon ng Chief PNP mismo sa paglabag na ito," Cruz said. (If you see policemen drinking while on duty, report them via 0917-8574747 or 2920. You can be assured of prompt action from the PNP chief himself.) Meanwhile, the PNP in Central Luzon sealed over the weekend the service firearms of its police personnel for the holidays. Region 3 head Chief Superintendent Allan Purisima led the sealing of the service firearms with signed pieces of masking tape. The seals will be removed after the holidays. – VVP, GMANews.TV
