2 quakes rock northern Luzon — Phivolcs


At least two quakes measuring magnitude 4.2 and 3.8 rocked parts of Northern Luzon shortly after noon Wednesday, but state seismologists said no damage was expected. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismolgy (Phivolcs) said the first quake measured magnitude 3.8 and was recorded at 12:29 p.m. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake was traced to 31 km northwest of Ilagan town in Isabela province. It said the quake was tectonic. The second quake was recorded at 12:52 p.m., and was also tectonic, Phivolcs said. Phivolcs said the second quake measured magnitude 4.2, and its epicenter was traced to 32 km southeast of Tabuk in Kalinga-Apayao. No aftershock was expected from both quakes, Phivolcs said. - KBK, GMANews.TV
