GMA News Mobile site loads faster, easy to use

GMANews.TV has rolled out a mobile version of the site that anyone with a smartphone can access. “As a mobile version, it loads faster and is easier to use than the full-feature site," said Howie Severino, editor-in-chief of GMANews.TV. Bearing the slogan, "The news at your fingertips," GMA News Mobile is a response to the growing number of Internet users who use their cell phones to access the web. In less than five years, more people around the world are expected to use mobile devices – tablets as well as cell phones -- rather than personal computers to connect to the Internet. Launched quietly last December, the mobile site was developed by GMA New Media, Inc., the technology and interactive applications arm of GMA Network. The mobile site’s url is m.gmanews.tv, but those who key in www.gmanews.tv on their smartphones or mobile devices will be redirected to the mobile site. GMA News Mobile allows users to scan headlines simply by scrolling up and down, and eliminates the need to move tediously from left to right. The headlines link to the full stories which will load faster, typical of mobile versions of news web sites. The mobile site is the stripped-down version intended for commuters and others who want a quick dose of news and features content. In addition to full news reports, GMA News Mobile will have sports, lifestyle, business, and even enterprise stories in a straight text format.
