Unson, Superal share age division lead at Greenfield

Andrea Unson and Princess Superal each turned in a three-over-par 75 to share the first-day lead in the girls' 13-17 division of the PCSO 11th Philippine International Junior Golf Championships at the Ayala Greenfield Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna. It was no surprise to see Unson grab the early lead after she played with the same form that helped Team ICTSI win four titles last year. Unson was instrumental in Team ICTSI's title conquests in the Optimist Junior International, San Diego Masters, and two Jungolf Interclub legs. She also clinched a berth in the US Women’s Amateur. Daniella Uy placed third with a 77, followed by Juily Vasandani (78) and China's Ziyu Ge (82). Taiwan's Hsien Huang shot a 71 while compatriot Chen Wei Wu submitted an 87 in the girls' 18-21 division. Jobim Carlos scored a one-over 73 to open a nine-shot advantage over Taiwan's Chien Chaing-wang in the boys' 18-21 division. Angelo Jose Gandionco had an even 72 to join Taiwan's Michael Hsaiao for the early lead in the 15-17 Class A division. Two shots down at 74 was Singaporean Nicklaus Chiam. Pint-sized wonder Rupert Zaragosa III shot a 74 to show the way in the boys' Class B (13-14). – Adrian Flores, JVP, KY, GMANews.TV
