Raps filed vs 3 cops, 5 others for kidnap try, murder

Eight people, including three policemen, were slapped with various charges by the Pasay City police for the failed kidnapping of an Indian national and the killing of his two companions last month. The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) identified the three policemen, all assigned in Quezon City, as Chief Inspector Edwin Faycho, PO2 Edmond Faculdar and PO1 Mark Edward Zapata. The five other suspects were Gurdanshan Singh, Saudagar Singh, Deepak Kumar, and Baldev Singh Brar, all Indian nationals; and Charles Pineda Lou. The eight were charged with two counts of murder before the Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office for allegedly abducting and killing Ferdinand Ret and Andy Bryan Ngie on December 20 last year.

Charges for attempted kidnapping with frustrated homicide were also slapped against the suspects for their failed attempt to abduct another Indian national, Manjinder Kumar. Aside from these, directed assault and frustrated murder charges were also slapped against the suspects for shooting the policeman, Police Inspector Renato Apolinario, who responded during the incident. Carjacking with force and intimidation charges were also filed against the suspects for failing to produce the missing vehicle of one victims, Ngie. Faycho was included in the charge sheet after Apolinario saw the policeman in a television report and positively identified him as one of those involved in the kidnapping of the Indian nationals. Lou, meanwhile, was caught by a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera withdrawing money in Pangasinan using Ngie’s automated teller machine (ATM) card. Eight other members of the Quezon City Police District have been sacked because of the incident, according to the NCRPO. Apolinario is still recovering in the hospital from gunshot wounds as of posting time.
