Unson wrests solo lead at Greenfields


Andrea Unson produced a one-over-par 73 in the second round to wrest the solo lead in the girls 13-17 division of the PCSO 11th Philippine International Junior Golf Championships at the Ayala Greenfields Golf and Leisure Club in Calamba, Laguna. Unson tallied 148 in two days after an opening-day 75. She holds a one-stroke lead over Princess Superal (75-149) and two off Daniella Uy (73-150) with only one round left in the 54-hole Philippine Junior Golf Foundation-organized event. Clare Legaspi sustained her form to remain on top in the girls' Under-12 with 69-139. In the girls' 18-21, Hsien Huang of Taiwan (71-77-148) was ahead over compatriot Chen Wei Wu (86-79- 165). Jobim Carlos, meanwhile, continued to dominate the boys' 18-21 division. He struggled a bit but finished with a 76 for a 149 to still hold a six-stroke edge over Taiwan's Chien Chi-chang (71-155). Filipino John Kenneth Kano (72-148) seized control of the boys' Class A (15-17) division. Taiwan’s Ding Sheng-lin (72-149), Vijay Vasandana II (70-150) and erstwhile leader Angelo Gandionco (80-152) followed, in that order. Jun Ho Won of Korea still leads (86-76-162) the Class C 11-12 division, same with Xuan Hao Tan of Singapore (77-80 157) in Class C (Under-10). – Adrian Flores, JVP, KY, GMANews.TV
