UST, FEU remain undefeated in men’s volleyball


Season 72 finalists’ University of Santo Tomas (UST) and Far Eastern University (FEU) clinched their sixth straight wins to remain undefeated in the UAAP men’s volleyball tournament on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan City. It took UST only 53 minutes to dispatch of National University in straight sets, 25-14, 25-14, 25-18, while FEU also swept Adamson, 25-17, 25-22, 25-23. John Paul Torres again led the Emil Lontoc-coached Tigers with 15 hits and two blocks, while teammates Salvador Depante III and Jayson Ramos combined for 17 points. No NU player scored in double digits, with Peter Den Mar Torres leading the Bulldogs with seven markers. It was the Bulldogs’ sixth loss against one win as they remained at the cellar. FEU, meanwhile, leaned on Nestor Molate’s 13 hits, two blocks and three service aces to clinch its sixth win. Rodolfo Labrador chipped in 13 hits. Ron Jay Galang was the lone Falcon to score in double figures with 12. Adamson slipped to solo fifth with a 2-5 record behind Ateneo’s 2-4 mark. – JVP, KY, GMANews.TV
