Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has ordered a manhunt for the jeepney driver who ran over a devotee of the Black Nazarene then dumped her body near a bridge last weekend. Jay dela Fuente, chief of the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Manila said Wednesday witnesses can call or text him at 0917 509-2698 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect. "Kahapon inutos ni Mayor Lim, kinuha ang kaso (Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim has taken over the case and wants it solved soonest)," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. The unidentified killer was driving a Cubao-Divisoria jeep (with plate number NXW-761). He ran over Cunigunda Mejia, 72, in front of a department store along C.M. Recto Avenue in Manila before dawn on Saturday. Witnesses said the driver offered to help take Mejia to a hospital but Mejia's body was eventually found under the Del Pan Bridge in Tondo, Manila. Dela Fuente said their initial investigation showed that Mejia was crossing the street and heading toward the Quiapo Church to attend mass when she was run over. "Naka-impound ang jeep at ang operator iniimbestigahan. Kahapon lumapit ang pamilya (The jeep has been impounded and its operator questioned.
