GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV launch over 10 new locations in the US


December 2010 was a busy month for GMA Network's international operations as it launched over 10 new locations for GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV in the United States. According to Joseph Francia, vice president and head of operations for GMA International, the year 2011 will be an even busier year for the two channels with the launching of more locations. "It will be a busy and exciting 2011 for GMA Pinoy TV and GMA Life TV as we continue to expand the distribution of these international channels. We look forward to serving more of our fellow Filipinos around the world through these new launches," Francia said. Digital cable provider Comcast brings GMA Network's flagship international channel, GMA Pinoy TV, to residents of:

  • Northern and Central California;
  • Boston and Brookline in Massachusetts;
  • Houston, Texas;
  • Portland, Oregon; and
  • Spokane, Washington. In December last year, Comcast Beltway launched GMA Pinoy TV in:
  • Washington DC;
  • Frederick and Prince George's County in Maryland;
  • Montgomery, Alabama;
  • Loudoun County, Virginia;
  • Denver Metro, Trinidad, and Colorado Spring in Colorado;
  • Chicago, and
  • New York. Subscribers in Chicago and New York have access not only to GMA Pinoy TV but also GMA Life TV (GLTV), the Kapuso Network's second international channel. GLTV is also currently carried by Comcast in Central California. The top pay-TV system, Time Warner Cable New York, now carries GMA Pinoy TV in the boroughs of Queens, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Staten Island, where a significant number of Filipino-Americans reside. GMA Pinoy TV, incorporated by GMA Network in February 2004, is a 24-hour international Filipino television station. It broadcasts GMA Network shows to the United States (including Hawaii & now Alaska), Japan, Guam, Saipan, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Singapore, the Middle East, North Africa, Hong Kong, Europe and Australia. GMA Life TV, incorporated by GMA Network in February 2008, broadcasts both GMA Network and Q TV shows to Japan, the Middle East, North Africa, Southern Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the United States. GMA Pinoy TV has around 261,000 subscribers worldwide as of the third quarter of 2010. The channel is seen in Hawaii, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Palm Desert via Time Warner.
