Ford Philippines' car sales reach record last year

Ford's domestic vehicles sales reached a new record high last year, Ford Group Philippines Inc. said Thursday. Ford Philippines president Randy Krieger said in a statement that the company registered its highest car sales this year, with 6,603 units sold. Including the sales of Mazda cars, Ford Philippines sold 9,751 units last year, almost a fifth higher than 2009 sales of 8,184 units, Krieger said. US-based Ford Motor Co. — parent firm of Ford Philippines — is Japan-based Mazda Motor Co.'s biggest stockholder. "We are absolutely delighted to have ended 2010 on such a high note... reaffirming that our Filipino consumers continue to appreciate our world-class lineup of Ford vehicles. We expect this momentum to carry into a strong 2011," Krieger said. Meanwhile, the export arm Ford Motor Company Philippines Inc. (FMCP) said it exported 9,858 units in 2010 from 7,277 units in 2009. Last year, the company said it planned to export about 10,000 units. FMCP assembles Escape and Focus units for export to Ford subsidiaries in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand. It also exports Mazda3 to Thailand. — JE/OMG, GMANews.TV
