DFA: No Pinoy reported hurt in Brazil floods so far

No Filipino has so far been reported killed or hurt in floods and mudslides that hit Brazil, the Department of Foreign Affairs said Friday. A report by radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad said the DFA cited initial reports from Philippine officials in Brazil that they are coordinating with the Filipino community. The report quoted the DFA as saying that there are some 425 Filipinos now based in Brazil. An Associated Press report said nearly 500 people have been killed in Brazil due to floods and mudslides there. Storms on Wednesday dumped rains that caused mudslides, which destroyed homes, roads and bridges and knocked out telephone and power lines. The reports said the worst affected towns were Teresopolis, Novo Friburgo and Petropolis. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
