Ilocos prosecutor's husband shot dead in ambush


A husband of a government prosecutor was shot dead shortly after delivering eggs in Ilocos Norte province early Saturday. Ilocos Norte police chief Senior Superintendent Marlo Chan said victim Edward Chan, 38, was on his way home when he was ambushed. "Naka-recover tayo ng walong spent shells ng cal-.45 (We recovered eight shells from a caliber-.45 pistol)," Chan said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said they are still gathering leads on the perpetrators and their motive. Chan said the victim, a wholesale dealer of eggs, is the husband of Laoag City prosecutor Gina Chan. An initial investigation showed the incident occurred around 6:05 a.m., shortly after the victim had delivered eggs in Santiago village in Solsona town. — LBG, GMANews.TV
