NDRRMC: Diarrhea threatens 450 households in CamSur


Diarrhea threatens at least 450 households in Camarines Sur, more than two weeks after being affected by floods and landslides brought by heavy rains. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said a team from the Department of Health in Bicol team was due to bring medicines to Siruma town. "The team (is to) set up and man the satellite hospital to address the life-threatening condition of about 450 households who are affected by diarrhea," the NDRRMC said in its Sunday update. It said the team will focus its efforts on Butawanan village in Siruma, bringing 300 boxes of mineral water and 100 boxes of electrolytes. As of 6 a.m. Sunday, the NDRRMC said the floods and landslides had affected at least 309,002 families or 1,580,543 people in 1,795 villages in 159 towns and 16 cities in 25 provinces. Some 1,969 families or 8,841 people are being served in 77 evacuation centers. The death toll remained at 47, with eight injured and four still missing. At least 503 houses were destroyed and 1,914 damaged. Damage to property was estimated at P1.626 billion, including P417.715 million in agriculture, P1.188 billion in infrastructure, and P20,996 in private property. - KBK, GMANews.TV
