Report: Heavy rains flood parts of Palawan


Heavy rains since Sunday night flooded several parts of Palawan province Monday, with floodwaters reaching up to chest level in some areas. Radio dzBB’s Palawan affiliate reported that the floods were waist- and chest-deep in Narra town, where families were evacuated to the town gymnasium. Among the affected areas were Poblacion, Panacan 1 and 2, and Elvita villages. Search and rescue operations were ongoing since early Monday for families affected by the floods. Narra is a first-class town with a population of 56,845 people in 11,521 households. Meanwhile, the dzBB report also cited initial reports that floods also hit Caramay village in Roxas town.
