Report: BIR teams to go after 600 Binondo commercial stalls

Internal revenue agents on Tuesday prepared to go after the owners of some 600 stalls in Manila's Binondo and Divisoria districts, on suspicion that the establishments failed to pay the proper taxes. A report of radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo said on Tuesday the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has given the stall owners a 48-hour period to present proper tax documents. The stalls that will fail to present the proper documents by Tuesday will be closed down, the report said. The Binondo and Divisoria districts are popular bargain shopping areas. Stalls in these areas are generally known to offer lower prices compared to those in other shopping districts. – VVP, GMANews.TV
