Lozano to meet with DOJ chief over son's killing

Marcos laywer Oliver Lozano, whose son was abducted and killed last week, is set to meet with Justice Sec. Leila de Lima on Tuesday afternoon. Speaking to reporters, De Lima said that Lozano has tapped the National Bureau of Investigation's (NBI) help in solving the killing of his son Emerson. "He (Lozano) contaced my office seeking an appointment. I also advised the NBI, because I understand he seeks the assistance of the NBI in the investigation in the murder of his son," said De Lima. Emerson Lozano, 44, and driver Ernani Sencil were last seen alive last January 12, Wednesday, while meeting a prospective buyer of a Kia van in Quezon City. Sencil's charred body was found the next day (Thursday) in Tarlac while that of Emerson was found last Friday in Pampanga. The Philippine National Police (PNP), which had set up a special task group to look into the incident, said it has at least one witness to the killings. Quoting PNP Director General Raul Bacalzo, Lozano said the police will attempt to resolve the crime within a week. "Bacalzo sought me out Monday night to give me a confidential briefing. The assessment is that the case may be solved within a week due to the cooperation of the public and the work of the police and the National Bureau of Investigation," he said in Filipino in an interview on dzBB radio. The initial findings showed that Emerson and Sencil were shot in the nape. The bullet that killed Emerson went through the nape and exited through his left cheek. The bullet that killed Sencil went through his lung. – VVP, GMANews.TV
