Bar exams moved to November, to be held at UST

Bar takers this year have two more months to review, owing to the Supreme Court's decision to move the Bar exams from September to November. At a news briefing on Tuesday, SC administrator and spokesman Jose Midas Marquez said the court decided to move the exams "because of the rains that come in September." Marquez also said that the venue will be transferred from the De La Salle University campus to the University of Santo Tomas campus. Both are in Manila. Earlier, Chief Justice Renato Corona explained the venue for the 2011 Bar exams will no longer be held in DLSU because the university did not renew its lease. Not linked to 2010 Bar blast Marquez also said the transfer of the venue had nothing to do with the Sept. 26, 2010 post-Bar exams blast in front of the La Salle campus. About 42 people were hurt after a grenade was lobbed during the traditional Salubong, the traditional revelries where well-wishers, law students, and relatives greet examinees who just finished taking the test. The National Bureau of Investigation had filed charges against Alpha Phi Omega fraternity member Anthony Nepomuceno, who was accused of throwing the grenade. Nepomuceno, who is facing the NBI's complaint at the Department of Justice, has repeatedly denied his involvement in the incident. Bar exams coverage Thousands of law graduates take the Bar exams every year. Last year, 5,012 law graduates took the test, perceived as the most difficult among licensure exams in the country. The list of those who passed the 2010 Bar exams will be released in April 2011, said Marquez. Marquez added that for the exams in November this year, "the first three Sundays will be for multiple choice questions, the fourth Sunday will be for essays." Associate Justice Roberto Abad chairs the conduct of this year's Bar exams. Last November, the SC issued the redefined coverage of the 2011 Bar exams. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
