Phivolcs: Magnitude-3.1 quake rocks Zambales, 3rd for the day

A magnitude-3.1 quake rocked Zambales province in Central Luzon Wednesday morning — the third for the day — but state seismologists said no damage was expected. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the quake was recorded at 8:47 a.m., and was tectonic in origin. It said the epicenter was 105 km southwest of Iba town in Zambales. Earlier in the day, a magnitude-3.2 quake was recorded at 3:19 a.m., with the epicenter at 77 km northwest of Iba town in Zambales province. A second quake measuring magnitude 2.7 also jolted the province at 3:21 a.m., with the epicenter at 83 km northwest of Iba. Phivolcs did not immediately specify the areas where the quake was felt. No aftershock was expected, it added. — RSJ/LBG, GMANews.TV
