Military personnel rescue 11-year-old kidnap victim in Lanao del Norte


ILIGAN CITY - Members of the military's 64th Infantry Battalion have rescued in Lanao del Sur an 11-year-old girl who was abducted on Thursday morning in Iligan City. Lt. Col. Dariu Bucawit identified the victim as Fatima Angni, of Camague, Iligan City a sister of Rasmia Angni, the owner of the restaurant where the child was kidnapped. Fatima was allegedly abducted by three armed men who were said to be her relatives. The victim's brother-in-law reported the incident to the 43rd IB based in Camp Pintoy in Suarez, Iligan City. Bucawit said the Army's 43rd and 64th infantry battalions worked together with the Philippine National Police of Pantar, Lanao del Norte in rescuing the girl. The rescuers intercepted the kidnappers' alleged get-away vehicle (with plate number ULE 997) at a military checkpoint in Kalanganan town. Bucawit named the three suspects as Camil Esmael, Macoy Panguntara, and Junior Panda, of Barangay Bualan, Balindong, Lanao del Sur. The abductors were brought to 103rd Infantry Brigade Headquarters for questioning. They were later turned over to the Iligan City Police Office, Bucawit said. – VVP, GMANews.TV
