Phivolcs: Early quakes rock Batangas and Masbate

At least two earthquakes hit Batangas in southern Luzon and Masbate province in the Bicol Region respectively, early Saturday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake was recorded at 2:28 a.m. in Batangas and measured magnitude 3.6. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter was 23 km southwest of Balayan, Batangas. A second quake measuring magnitude 3.2 was recorded at 6:23 a.m. in Masbate town in Masbate. The epicenter was traced to 69 km northwest of Masbate, Phivolcs said. However, Phivolcs did not immediately specify the areas where the quakes were felt. It added no aftershock was expected from both quakes. — LBG, GMANews.TV
