Woman hurt in Malabon pawnshop robbery try

A female pawnshop employee was hurt following an attempted robbery Sunday morning in Malabon City. Jeramie Yngco, the assistant branch manager of an M. Lhuiller pawnshop in Brgy. Tañong, was rushed to the MCU hospital in Caloocan City after the robber stabbed her several times for not granting him access to the shop’s cash register. The suspect fled after stabbing Yngco without any loot. Police said the robbery attempt occurred around 7 a.m. while Yngco was opening the shop. They said the suspect, dressed like a security guard, forcibly entered the pawnshop with her.

Employees are not supposed to open the pawnshop without a security guard present, but the guard, Richard Catid, said he was 30 minutes late because he had to attend to some financial matters in his security agency. “Pagdating ko bukas na, may mga pulis tapos wala na po yung teller namin na sinaksak (When I arrived the pawnshop was already open, police were there and our teller who was stabbed was no longer there)," Catid said in an interview inside the Malabon Police Station where he was invited for questioning. Catid denied involvement in the attempted robbery. Police are still tracking down the suspect. – Jam L. Sisante/KBK, GMANews.TV
