PAGASA: No storm despite heavy rains in Metro Manila

Heavy rains fell on parts of Metro Manila at around noon on Monday but state weather forecasters said there was no cyclone in the Philippine territory. Radio dzBB's Denver Trinidad reported that traffic in Pasay City slowed down at the corner of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and Roxas Boulevard. DzBB's Carlo Mateo meanwhile reported zero visibility along parts of Taft Avenue due to the heavy rains. Still, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said there is no storm in the country. However, PAGASA said a diffused tail-end of a cold front is affecting Mindanao while a wind convergence is affecting Palawan. In its 11:00 a.m. advisory, PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides over Southern Palawan and Northeastern Mindanao. "(The tail-end of a cold front and wind convergence) will bring mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms becoming cloudy with widespread rains over Southern Palawan and Northeastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides," PAGASA said. PAGASA also advised fishermen in Northern and Central Luzon not to venture out into the sea due to big waves generated by strong to gale force northeasterly winds. – VVP, GMANews.TV
