Phivolcs: Quakes hit Capiz, Ifugao


Earthquakes measuring magnitude 3.1 and 2.5 rocked parts of Capiz in Western Visayas and Ifugao in Northern Luzon Sunday, but there was no initial report of damage or casualty. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the first quake measuring magnitude 3.1 was recorded at 10:01 a.m. in Capiz. In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the epicenter of the quake was at 5 km southwest of Tapaz, Capiz, and was tectonic in origin. The second quake measuring magnitude 2.5 was recorded at 1:19 p.m., and was also tectonic in origin. Phivolcs said the epicenter of the second quake was 26 km southwest of Lagawe, Ifugao. While Phivolcs did not immediately cite specific areas where the quakes were felt, it said no aftershock was expected from both quakes. - KBK, GMANews.TV
