Carjackers strike anew in Makati, Quezon City

Carjackers struck anew early Tuesday, taking a sport-utility vehicle at gunpoint at a residential area in Makati City. A report on dzBB radio said two men poked their firearms at the driver of a red Mitsubishi Montero (PJI-328) just as it was being taken out of the garage. The report said the incident occurred at about 6 a.m. along Hilario Street in the city's Palanan district. In an interview on GMA Network's Unang Balita, Vicky Pacis, owner of the SUV, said four men were responsible for the incident. Pacis, quoting her driver, said the suspects were armed with .45-caliber pistols.

On the other hand, police are still tracking down a Mitsubishi Strada pickup carjacked in Quezon City Monday. A report by dzBB's Allan Gatus said unidentified armed men had blocked the path of the Strada in Baesa village in Quezon City Monday, and sped off with the vehicle — along with two of its passengers aged 9 and 16. Carjackers continued to operate despite a recent series of raids targeting mainly the Dominguez carjack gang, following at least two high-profile carjack-slays. Last month, carjackers killed car dealer Venson Evangelista as well as Emerson Lozano and his driver Ernani Sencil. Self-confessed suspect Alfred Mendiola linked Raymond Dominguez to both cases. — RSJ, GMANews.TV
