Tension mars meeting between 'rapist' cop, accuser

Tension marred the first meeting between a Manila policeman accused of raping a vendor last December and his accuser at the Manila Prosecutor's Office Wednesday. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported PO3 Antonio Bautista Jr. and his lawyers infuriated the vendor who accused him of rape when they insisted she was only after money. Bautista faces charges of rape for allegedly molesting the 30-year-old vendor inside MPD headquarters late last December. He turned himself to the Justice Department in last January, after a reward was offered for information leading to his arrest. The meeting between Bautista and his accuser took place at the office of Prosecutor Mary Jane Pagilagan. With the vendor were her husband, Public Attorney's Office head Persida Acosta and members of militant groups. The report said the vendor's husband even reportedly raised his voice when Bautista claimed the vendor's accusations were all lies. — LBG, GMANews.TV
