Report: QC police dismantles anti-carjack unit after 3 thefts

After three carjacking incidents in the last three days, the Quezon City (QC) police dismantled its anti-carjacking unit on Wednesday. Radio dzBB reported the QCPD dismantled its Anti-Carnapping Unit (ANCAR) and replaced it with the District Anti-Carnapping Unit (DACU). Tasked to head the DACU was Superintendent Ferdinand Villanueva, a former ranking operative of the Philippine National Police's Highway Patrol Group. At least three anti-carjacking police operatives will be assigned to the QCPD's police stations, the report said. The move came on Wednesday after the third carjacking incident in the city in three days. On Wednesday, armed men seized a Mitsubishi Montero (with plate number PIH 155) from a residential area. On Monday, unidentified men blocked the path of a Mitsubishi Strada pickup in Baesa village in Quezon City, and took the vehicle and two of its passengers aged 9 and 16. On Tuesday night, unidentified men made off with a silver Mitsubishi Adventure (with plate number RJD 147) parked in Bahay Toro village. – VVP, GMANews.TV
