Bomb scare hits plaza across US Embassy in Manila

Another bomb scare caused tension and disrupted traffic Thursday, this time at a plaza across the United States Embassy in Manila. Radio dzBB's Carlo Mateo reported a police bomb squad rushed to the site after being informed that a "suspicious" black bag was left at Plaza Ferguson. The bag was seen in the area past 7 a.m., along the service road of the northbound part of Roxas Boulevard. An inspection by the Manila Police District's bomb squad showed the bag contained personal belongings. Traffic on the northbound part of Roxas Boulevard was disrupted while police cordoned off the area during the inspection. It was the latest bomb scare to hit Metro Manila since a bomb exploded aboard a passenger bus in Makati City last January 25, killing at least five people. On February 1, police cordoned off the parking lot of the Quezon City Hall of Justice after receiving information that a bomb was placed under a yellow car, radio dzBB reported. After inspection, however, no bomb was found inside the vehicle, the report added. — LBG, GMANews.TV
