Janet Jackson to perform at PICC on Feb. 4

Fans of Janet Jackson will gather at the Philippine International Convention Center Plenary Hall on February 4 when the 44 year-old recording artist performs over 30 number one hit singles. With hits spanning North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Africa, Jackson is set to perform 35 of her chart-toppers in 35 cities around the world, dedicating a song to each city. The first four cities are Manila (Feb. 4), Singapore (Feb. 7), Hong Kong (Feb. 14) and Taipei (Feb. 19). Tomorrow night's show is the first in her world tour entitled "Number Ones, Up Close and Personal." Singapore is her next stop, despite having one album banned and a song disallowed on radio before. For Manila, Jackson will dedicate "Go Deep" from the album Velvet Rope. “I dedicate ‘Go Deep’ to all my fans in Manila. It was a dream for me to start my Number Ones Up Close and Personal tour in your magical city and country. There is a truth in the Philippines that enchants people all over the world. I can't wait to get there and be with you," said Jackson on her official site. She will also be recognizing 20 young people who have made extraordinary contributions to their local communities. Jackson reached out to her fans through her website, where she asked for nominations to determine where she would perform. Fans can expect to see Jackson perform her latest number one single "Make Me" as well as songs from her previous albums, including "If," "Again," "Got 'Til It's Gone," "and "All For You." Jackson first appeared in their family's variety show "The Jacksons," where Janet, as a nine year-old, performed alongside her siblings, including the late Michael Jackson. She signed her first recording deal at age 14 and went on to produce more than 10 albums, including two greatest hits compilations. Admired for her versatility, Jackson is the only artist to have Grammy nominations in the Dance, Pop, Rap, Rock and R&B categories. Apart from having 5 Grammy’s, she has multiple MTV Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards, among others. Her concerts have a reputation for having intense choreography, resulting in a spectacular show without needing too many special effects. Despite being her largest world tour yet, the "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" tour is designed to be intimate. “I will be as up close and personal as possible. These concerts are not about special effects. This is a love affair between me and those of you who have supported me and my work for all these years. I’ll be singing and dancing from my heart. The music will all be songs that you’ve made number ones for me," said Jackson on her site. Tickets are available at http://www.ticketworld.com.ph. – VVP, GMANews.TV
