Report: Cops raid shabu lab in Malabon

The police on Friday raided a suspected drug laboratory in Malabon City suspected to be the source of drugs being sold by a gang operating in Metro Manila. Metro Manila police chief Director Nicanor Bartolome said the house at 1 Silver Town Homes in Potrero village, Malabon had been rented by a gang member they arrested earlier. "Ito kasi pinapalagay namin ginamit ng nahuli namin three days ago, na may dala ng shabu. Ang nagre-rent isa sa nahuling Chinese national," Bartolome said in an interview on dzBB radio. (We had suspected this to be the laboratory where the methamphetamine hydrochloride was produced. We suspect the shabu being peddled by the gang members we arrested came from this house.) He said the police raided the house after securing a search warrant but no one was found inside the house when they searched it. A report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus said police had to don face masks because of the strong smell of chemicals. Earlier this week, Bartolome said they were on the lookout for a drug laboratory operating right inside Metro Manila following at least two major drug busts in past weeks where they arrested at least four Chinese nationals. "Malamang may pagawaan na naman dito. Karugtong ito ng two weeks ago, tinitingnan natin ang kasamahan nila rito sa Metro Manila," Bartolome said in an interview on dzRH radio Wednesday. (It looks like there is another factory somewhere in Metro Manila. After major drug busts in the last few weeks, it appears there is a gang operating right in Metro Manila.) On Tuesday, the police arrested two Chinese who yielded 40 kilos of methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) worth P200 million, following a sting operation in Caloocan City. Those arrested were Dave Go and Qinguo Nian, whose vehicles yielded traveling bags containing the 40 kilos of shabu. Go's silver Toyota RAV-4 and Nian's red Toyota Innova were intercepted at the corner of Aquino street and 6th Avenue in Caloocan City. On the other hand, Tuesday's operation stemmed from the earlier arrest of two other suspected Chinese drug dealers in Manila. In the earlier operation in Manila, the police had seized some six kilos of shabu worth P27 million, according to a report on dzBB radio. – VVP, GMANews.TV
