A total of 12,290 examinees passed the Career Service written examinations held nationwide on October 17 last year, the Civil Service Commission (CSC) said on Monday. The number of passers represents 12.66% of the 97,099 people who took the examinations, the CSC said in a statement issued on Monday. The complete list of successful examinees of the October 17, 2010 Career Service Professional and Sub-Professional written examinations can be accessed at the CSC website: www.csc.gov.ph. The CSC advises the passers to coordinate with the CSC Regional Office concerned on the requirements and procedure to claim their Certificate of Eligibility (COE). Those who failed may secure a copy of their Report of Rating also through the CSC website, the CSC said. Top 10 passers The Top 10 passers are for the Professional level are:

Professional and sub-professional levels A total of 9,868 passed the Professional level and will be conferred the Career Service Professional Eligibility. They will be eligible for appointment to both first and second level positions in government. The remaining 2,422 passed the Sub-professional level and shall be conferred the Sub-professional Eligibility appropriate only to first level government positions. The first level, the CSC explained, includes clerical, trades, crafts, and custodial service positions requiring less than four years of college studies. On the other hand, the second level covers professional, technical and scientific positions up to Division Chief level requiring at least four years of college studies. NCR garners highest passing rate The CSC said statistics showed that the National Capital Region (NCR) had the highest passing rate in terms of regional performance with 2,215 passers out of 12,161 examinees or an 18.21% passing rate. The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) followed with a 14.98% passing rate, or 520 passers out of 3,472 examinees. Placing third is Region VII (Central Visayas), registering 805 passers out of 5,377 examinees or a 14.97% passing rate. Regions III (Central Luzon) and XI (Davao Region) follow closely with passing rates pegged at 13.98% and 13.35%, respectively. Passers eligible to work in govt The CSC said all examination passers are now eligible to work in government. However, they must also meet the education, experience and training requirements of their desired career position to be considered for permanent appointment. The applicants to government posts must undergo an internal screening process composed of written tests, interviews and other measures to determine the most qualified candidate for a vacant position. Passers were mostly unemployed The profile of the passers for both examination levels revealed that majority, numbering 6,199 or 50.44%, were unemployed. The unemployment rate was pegged at 48.14% among the professional level eligibles and 59.10% among the sub-professional eligibles. Some 2,830 passers work in the private sector, while 2,064 are from the public sector. Those self-employed numbered 702. The CSC said the new eligibles prefer to work in the areas of human resource, social science and welfare service; general administrative service; financial service; mathematics, physical and biological science service; tourism and industry service, executive service; foreign relations service; art and information service; legal and judicial service; education, library, museum and archival service; and transportation, communication and utilities service. Records showed that female passers outnumbered the male passers, at 7,229 against the 5,062 male passers with a difference of 42.81%. The passers were relatively young, with those in the age bracket 18-24 years old counting most at 8,038 (or 65.4%), followed by those in the 25-31 age bracket at 2,918 (or 23.74%). The majority of the passers, pegged at 9,728 or 79.15%, were first time takers of the career service examinations. “Take 2" passers numbered 1,640.
