2 killed, 19 hurt in North Cotabato road accidents

Kidapawan City — Two people were killed while 19 others were wounded in two separate road accidents in North Cotabato province on Sunday. In Barangay Tibao in M’lang town, a collision between a passenger van and a Fuzo truck Sunday morning resulted in the death of businesswoman Nenita Villanueva and the wounding of 15 others. Quoting witnesses, Superintendent Reinante delos Santos of M’lang police said the van, which was heading toward the M’lang-Datu Paglas highway, turned turtle after it hit the truck driven by one Romulo Perez Dulana of Valencia City, Bukidnon. Villanueva was reportedly seated beside the van’s driver, identified as Salik Baod of Datu Paglas, Maguindanao, who sustained severe head injuries. Hours later, or on Sunday evening, 36-year-old Moloy Cabantog was killed when the motorcycle he was driving slammed into a KIA Avila along the highway in Barangay Paco. Cabantog, who died on the spot, was a photographer of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) here. City traffic chief SPO2 Raymundo Lam-an said Cabantog was intoxicated when the accident occurred. On the other hand, the KIA’s driver, identified as Harold Barius, 20, was found to be driving without a license. Baruis sustained injuries on his eye while his wife, daughter, and a helper sustained bruises. — Malu Cadelina Manar/KBK, GMA News
