Yahoo PH chief leaves for Multiply.com

Jonathan “Jack" Madrid, country manager of Yahoo Philippines, is resigning from his post to join Multiply.com as its Philippine country manager, an industry insider revealed in a status update. On Tuesday night, IT maven Janette Toral wrote in her Facebook page: “Wow, Jack Madrid will be joining Multiply.com Philippines as country manager." Multiply.com, a Florida-based social networking site partly owned by broadcast giant ABS-CBN, apparently hired Madrid in preparation for the expansion of its local office. Multiply.com has been building up its local presence since most of the site’s subscribers now come from the Philippines. The social network’s top American executives have, in fact, visited the country many times in the last few years. Madrid joined Yahoo Philippines in August 2009, replacing tech pioneer Jojo Añonuevo, who assumed a regional post at Yahoo’s Singapore office. Previous to that, Madrid served as director for Dell’s consumer technical support operations in the Philippines. He also worked as managing director of tech incubator iAyala Corporation and MTV Philippines. — Newsbytes.ph
