Portion of 13-storey building under construction collapses in QC

UPDATED 11:45 a.m. - A portion of a 13-storey building under construction in Quezon City, collapsed on Friday, GMA News' Mark Salazar reported. The building is located in Eton Centris, a development of Eton Properties. It is a 12-hectare area that has residential towers, offices and commercial spaces. It is located along EDSA-Quezon Avenue and is near the Quezon Avenue MRT station.
In a statement issued on Friday, the management of Eton said, "At 6:30am today (February 11, 2011), a portion of the form works supporting the concrete slab being poured at the second floor of an office building in Centris at the corner of EDSA and Quezon Avenue gave way." "There were no injuries or fatalities in the minor accident as reported by Grandway Konstruction, the building contractor," the statement said. "The area, which comprises a small portion of the building's second floor, is currently being cleared of debris," the statement added. In January this year, 10 workers were killed when they fell from a residential building construction, another Eton Properties development, in Makati City. – VVP, GMA News
