Globe starts offering BlackBerry Torch

Globe has launched the BlackBerry Torch 9800 smartphone, the world’s first smartphone to combine a BlackBerry keyboard with a full touch screen experience, to business customers in the Philippines. It also includes BlackBerry 6, a new operating system for BlackBerry smartphones. It offers support for Globe’s high-speed 3G (UMTS/HSDPA) network as well as global roaming, and includes the latest generation in Wi-Fi (b/g/n) connectivity and built-in GPS for location-based applications and geo-tagging. The smartphone comes with a combined 8 GB of media storage out-of-the-box, including a microSD/SDHD memory card slot that can bring the total storage memory to 36 GB for customers that want more. The new BlackBerry Torch is being offered with Business Plus, a diversity of postpaid plans that enable business customers to choose the mobile services that best suit their needs. Under the Business Plus Combo 3499, customers can get the new BlackBerry Torch for free. The service plan offers unlimited calls and texts to Globe and TM customers, 240 minutes of landline, NDD and mobile calls, 600 texts to all networks in the country and up to 160MB of mobile browsing.
