Malaysia to charge Somali pirates under firearms act

KUALA LUMPUR — Malaysia will charge seven Somali pirates with offences under the firearms act in a move that could see the men hanged if they are found guilty, a statement from the Attorney General's office said on Friday. The pirates were captured in January by Malaysian commandos after they attempted to hijack a Malaysian-owned chemicals tanker. They were brought to Malaysia and were due to be charged in a court in the capital Kuala Lumpur later on Friday. — Reuters
