Que, 2 others gear up for Asian Tour Circuit

Armed and ready, Angelo Que, Mars Pucay and Antonio Lascuna of the Philippines are in the homestretch of gearing up for the new Asian Tour circuit in the season-opener Avantha Masters, which tees off Thursday in New Delhi, India. The 32-year-old Que, who won the P4.7-million The Country Club Invitational last month at The Country Club in Laguna, is seeking his second major title of the year. Que says he knows it's important to start the season on a high note, as it boosts a player's confidence throughout the year. “It gives a player an emotional high, which rubs off on his play in the succeeding tournaments, in and out of the Asian Tour," he said. Winless last year, Pucay and Lascuna still found themselves in the top 60 of the annual Order of Merit (OOM) standings. They wil be gunning for the crown in the full-field 72-hole set at the DLF Golf and Country Club. “I have a feeling that I’ll win a leg this year," said Pucay, a former tee-boy in Baguio City. Andrew Dodt of Australia is primed to defend his crown against a tough line-up, which includes local stars Jeev Milkha Singh, an Asian Tour honorary and two-time OOM winner, and Gaganjeet Bhullar. Thai Thongchai Jaidee, a three-time OOM champ, and 2010 Asian Tour top rookie Japanese Tetsuji Hiratsuka are poised to head the Asian challenge at the tri-sanctioned event involving the Asian Tour, European Tour, and Professional Golf Tour of India. - KY, RCJ, GMA News
