2 killed, 7 hurt in predawn QC bus-van accident
At least two people were killed while seven were injured in a road accident involving a passenger bus and a van in Quezon City before dawn Wednesday. Radio dzBB reported the incident occurred at 12:30 a.m. along Regalado Avenue in the city's North Fairview district. DzBB cited initial reports from the Quezon City Police District's traffic sector identifying one of the fatalities as van driver Edgar Coloma, 39. The other fatality, a female, was not immediately named. On the other hand, the seven injured were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center for treatment. Initial investigation showed the driver of the "J-Ross Lucky Seven" tour bus had just overtaken a jeep when it collided with a Nissan Urvan on the opposite lane. Policemen are looking for the bus driver, who bus conductor Jeffrey Indicio identified only as Nagnayon, who fled after the incident. Meanwhile, a bus and a van figured in another predawn accident near the corner of Epifanio delos Santos Avenue and Quezon Avenue, also in the city. The "Dominion" bus (AVW-737) hit the rear of the Toyota van (XGM-700), dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. "Yung van biglang nag-cut, di nakayanan ng preno ko maiwasan kaya tumama sa conductor side sa tagiliran (The van suddenly cut in front of me and I could not apply the brakes in time)," bus driver Jing Canotan said. — LBG, GMA News
