Jail guard nabbed for motorcycle theft in QC
A jail guard who was arrested originally for carrying a firearm in Quezon City ended up facing additional charges of motorcycle theft after his supposed victim recognized him at the police precinct. Jail Officer 1 Elmer Lagueta of the Pasig City Jail was initially held together with Danilo Ylen, mechanic, for riding a motorcycle that had no license plate, according to Superintendent Edgardo Pamittan, commander of the Quezon City Police District-Station 11. They were stopped at the corner of N. Ramizes and Matimyas Streets in Barangay Don Manuel in Quezon City past Tuesday midnight. Authorities filed charges of illegal possession of firearms against the suspects after finding an unlicensed cal. 38 revolver tucked in Lagueta's waist. While at the police precinct, another man, Sonny Villarosa, suddenly recognized Lagueta as the same person who forcibly took his motorcycle, a Yamaha Mio, on the eve of Valentine's Day. Authorities suspected that the Asian Star motorcycle the suspects were driving could have been stolen from someone. — Mark D. Merueñas/KBK, GMA News
