Fil-Am actress-singer performs in Reagan centennial concert

Young Filipina-American actress and singer Anna Maria Perez de Taglé, popular for her roles in Hannah Montana and the Camp Rock movies, recently performed in a concert to commemorate former US President Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday. A clip below of Anna's performance at the Ronald Reagan concert: Twenty-year-old Perez de Taglé, granddaughter of the Philippines’ “Queen of Kundiman" Sylvia La Torre, sang before an audience of Reagan supporters and Republican Party leaders on February 5 at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. Perez de Taglé, born and raised in California, sang pieces from hit musicals Les Misérables (“I Dreamed a Dream") and Jekyll and Hyde (“Someone Like You"). In addition to Reagan's widow Nancy Reagan, the audience included Republican Party luminaries George Schultz, James Baker, Newt Gingrich, Dick Cheney, Fred Ryan, Ed Meese, and Fred Thomson, and actors Gary Sinise, Lee Greenwood, Amy Grant and Tom Selleck. Reagan, who died in 2004 at the age of 93, was the 40th president of the United States and is an icon of the Republican Party. His centennial has been marked by celebrations across America. Toured with Jonas Brothers Perez de Taglé is known for her roles as Ashley Dewitt in the hit TV series “Hannah Montana"; as Ella Pador in the films "Camp Rock" and “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam"; and as Joy Moy in the 2009 film “Fame." She also went on a concert tour with the pop band Jonas Brothers in 2010. For the Reagan centennial concert, Anna wore a creation by Filipino designer Oliver Tolentino of Hollywood, CA. It was made out of Philippine indigenous fabrics that included piña, abaca and silk cocoon. —Jerrie M. Abella/JV, GMA News
