Informant on Cainta massacre gets P100,000 reward


Nearly one week after helping solve the crime, the tricycle driver who led police to the suspect in the Valentine's Day massacre in Cainta, Rizal received a P100,000 reward. A report by radio dzBB's Glen Juego said the informant, who was not named, was escorted to Cainta, Rizal from Boac town in Marinduque, so he can get the reward. Accompanying the tricycle driver to the Cainta town hall was Boac, Marinduque police head Chief Inspector Gilmer Manguera. The Cainta town government also acknowledged the help of the Rizal and Marinduque provincial police, and the Cainta local police. The Cainta government awarded P30,000 to the Marinduque police and P20,000 each to the Cainta police and Rizal provincial police. The police arrested the main suspect in the Valentine's Day massacre of a family of four in Cainta, Rizal on Tuesday and formally charged him on Thursday. Fortunato "Junjun" Acibar Jr. was charged with four counts of murder in inquest proceedings before the Rizal Provincial Prosecutor's Office. Acibar admitted to the crime during the proceedings and was charged with four counts of murder. He admitted to killing Amado and Elizabeth Acibar and their two children following a drinking spree Feb. 13. The bodies of the victims were discovered Monday. Police acting on a tip from a tricycle driver arrested Acibar Tuesday afternoon in Boac, Marinduque, and brought him to Metro Manila Wednesday. Acibar claimed he had been angry with Elizabeth for allegedly accusing him of being a murderer. He finally snapped during a drinking spree on Sunday night. He also said he acted alone in the killing. – VVP, GMA News
