NDRRMC: 1 killed in Benguet road accident


At least one person was reported killed after his sport-utility vehicle fell into a 200-meter-deep ravine in Benguet province in northern Luzon Friday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reported early Saturday. The NDRRMC said the Toyota Land Cruiser (RAD-836) was heading for Baguio City when it fell into the ravine at 7:45 a.m. Friday. It said the incident occurred at Sitio Kalipkip in Sablan town's Banangan village . The NDRRMC initially identified the fatality as Bernie Opiniano, 29, of Upper Quezon Hill in Baguio City. Opiniano was the driver of the SUV, the NDRRMC said. It did not immediately say if there were other passengers in the SUV at the time of the accident. — LBG, GMA News
