It will be Dennis Orcullo of the Philippines versus Neils Feijen of the Netherlands for this year's World 8-Ball crown. The two players made it to the final round by routing their respective semifinals rivals late Friday (Saturday morning in Manila) at the Fujairah Exhibition Center in Fujairah United Arab Emirates. Orcullo, the former world No.1 player seeking his first world championship, made short work of former World 10-Ball semifinalist David Alcaide of Spain, 9-3, in their Final Four encounter. But Feijens pulled off the more shocking victory. He blanked former world No.1 and multi-titled champion Darren Appleton of Great Britain, 9-0, to barge his way to the final round. Earlier, Orcullo defeated Takhti Zarekani, 9-2, in their quarterfinal showdown. The big guns of this event sanctioned by the World Pool-Billiard Association were ushered through the exit door earlier than expected. Reigning World 9-Ball champion (NOTE: WHO? NAME?) was booted out as early as Stage 1, while compatriot and double world champion Efren "Bata" Reyes followed him shortly after, in the early phase of Stage 2. Ronnie Alcano, also a two-time world champion and a former winner of this event, could only make it as far as the Round-of-16, while defending champion Karl Boyes of Great Britain took a bye in Stage 2, but lost quickly to reigning World Ten Ball champion Mika Immonen of Finland, 1-9. - Rey Joble, GMA News
